Iuka CCSD 7

In a rematch of the OBC Tournament championship Iuka earned revenge beating Field 40-18 behind 25 points from Kinnley Eagan. Katee Sellers chipped in 13. The boys JV and Varsity squads dropped tough games with Cisne. The bots will host Odin on Thursday and the girls will travel to Bethel. Both games start at 6:00.

Beta Club will be sorting cans tomorrow! We will still take any canned food or monetary donations Tuesday!

REMINDER: The first Kindness Club meeting is tomorrow after school until 4:00 pm.

The Lady Pirates earned a spot in the OBC Championship game as they defeated a very good Selmaville squad. Top scorers were Katee S. 27 pts., Kinnley E. 12 pts., Kenley C., 6 pts., and Kenzie M., with 2 pts. The Lady Pirates will be taking on Field at Field for the OBC Tournament Championship this Thursday at 8:00.

Iuka Grade School will present a Veterans Day Program Thursday November 9 at 9:00 AM. The program will be held in front of the school by the flag pole (in case of inclement weather in the gym). The program will feature the National Anthem and the Illinois State Song, the Armed Service Songs and America the Beautiful, performed by the Jr. High Band, and the Music Classes. The Salem American Legion will present the Service Flags and we will have a Veteran guest speaker. The community is invited to attend. Please park in the east, south, or west parking areas. Please do not park or drive through the north parking lot by the flag pole in front of the school, as this is where the students will be standing to perform.

Pirate Nation: there is no school on Tuesday, November 7 and Friday, November 10. Our annual Veterans Day Program is Thursday, November 10 at 9:00 am. We hold this program, weather permitting, outside in front of the main door and gym door. In the event that you plan on being at school at that time, please do not park along the concrete curbing, but utilize one of our designated parking spaces. Additionally, Dental Safari will be at school on Thursday. We have had many students sign up. Though we do our best to mindfully schedule things that don't conflict with other events, sometimes it's out of our control. We will accommodate the best we can as there will be some overlap with Dental Safari and the Veterans Day Program.

REMINDER: Dental Safari is coming to Iuka Grade School Thursday, November 9th to provide dental exams and cleanings for students. There is still time to sign up. Iuka beat Odin/Patoka 34-33 on a last second shot at the buzzer from Katee S. Kinnley E. finished with 16 in the win, Katee added 14. Iuka is undefeated in OBC play ahead of next week’s tournament hosted at Field and Iuka. The Lady Pirates return to action Thursday when they host Sandoval at 6 pm.

Senior Citizens Dinner is back! On December 1st, Iuka Grade School is hosting their annual Senior Citizens Dinner at noon. The dinner is for those 60 years of age or older, living in the Iuka Grade School District. Reservation must be made to the school by Tuesday, November 28th. If you have any questions, please call the school at 323-6233.

Pirate Nation: we just learned that we are hosting two girls OBC Tournament games on 11/7/2023. We are needing 2/3 people to help in the concession stand. Please let us know if you're interested in working that night. It would help us out quite a bit. Thank you
