It looks like winter illnesses are making their rounds a little early this year!
We're seeing an increase in illnesses among our students, including fevers, Influenza A, and strep throat.
We want our students healthy, happy, and IN SCHOOL! But when they're sick, the very best place for them is home, getting the rest they need to recover.
Please take a moment to review these reminders about when to keep your child home, when it's safe to return, and how we can all help keep those germs from spreading.
And remember, when in doubt, please get checked out!

There will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, November 2nd, and Tuesday, November 3rd due to Parent-Teacher Conferences.
Conference Times:
- Monday, November 2nd: 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM
- Tuesday, November 3rd: 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Appointments are required to meet with your child’s teacher. Conferences may be scheduled for in-person or by phone.
If you have multiple children, please call as early as possible so we can do our best to schedule your appointments close together.

Every 8th grade student has the opportunity to purchase an 8th Grade Banner! Please bring the money to school by Tuesday. Payment must be made in full before the banner will be completed.
What should students bring/wear?
Students may wear a sports jersey if they participated in that sport during the previous school year or are currently participating. Students may also represent other school activities and interests, such as:
- Scholar Bowl shirt
- Beta shirt
- Band uniform and/or instrument
- Art supplies
- Favorite book(s)
- Livestock equipment
- Legos
Make them your own! The banners will be displayed at school throughout the remainder of the school year. At the end of the year, students will receive their banners to take home as a special keepsake.
We hope this will be a fun and meaningful way to recognize our 8th grade students and celebrate their interests, activities, and accomplishments!

Tomorrow, Tuesday September 15, 2026 Iuka Grade School will be conducting our yearly scheduled Health and Safety drills in conjunction with the Iuka Fire Department, United EMS, and the Marion County Sheriff's Department. These drills will be from approximately 9:00am - 10am. These will include medical response and active intruder drills.
