Iuka Student Prepare for Spring Planting Season!
Junior High Students at Iuka Grade School have been preparing for the spring planting season. The sixth, seventh, and eighth grade classes at Iuka have been participating in some end of the year planting activities to coincide with thier science classes the past few weeks. The students have been planting potatoes, onions, lettuce, spinach, flowers, pumpkins, watermelon, as well as, many other types of plants. The students prepared a large plot of land and two large raised beds that will be home to flowers and straweberries this season. The planting activities are all a part of the Mrs. Herdes's goal to develop conservation awareness and responsibility in the students through teaching them to be self sufficient growers.
