Iuka Grade School Relay for Life Mini Relay
Students Raise $2,008.71!!!!!
The students at Iuka Grade School were challenged by staff to raise over $500 dollars this week by collecting change from family and friends. The money would go to benefit the American Cancer Society and the Relay for LIfe Team "Katie's Buddies". Spectators were stunned on Friday to find out that the students had actually raised over two thousand dollars. Each day the students carried in change in water bottles and dumped them in the collection box. By Tuesday, the students had surpassed their goal, but that didn't stop them from bringing in the change. After the dust setttled Friday at the Mini Relay Event, the students had collected $2,008.71. One of the highlights of the day for the kids was seeing Mr. Consolino dressed in St. Louis Cardinal gear, which he promised he would do if they reached their goal.
Students, Staff, Cancer Surivors, Cancer Caregivers, Friends, and Family Members gathered Friday afternoon, braving the rain, to complete the week's events with a cancer walk. Several survivors and caregivers were on hand for the event.
